Fancy getting creative this May? Well you have come to the right place. We have three jewellery taster sessions running this May. Each session gives you a unique insight into the world of jewellery making.
You can choose from:
Make an Oresome sterling Silver Pendant - Saturday 18th May – 1.30-4pm
Make a Pair of Oresome Sterling Silver earrings - Saturday 18th May – 1.30-4pm
Make an Oresome Sterling Silver Ring – Sunday 19th May – 1-4pm
Nicola and I have expertly designed these courses to give you a flavour of jewellery making and give you an insight to some basic techniques and processes that you will use to design your final item. These sessions are suitable for complete beginners, so no need to worry if you have never done any jewellery making before.
We demonstrate how to create different patterns and textures on the surface of the metal so then you can use this to create your own completely bespoke piece of jewellery.
The course usually lasts around 3 hours, we ask that you arrive 5 -10 minutes before the session starts as we usually have teas, coffees and biscuits available to get everyone going. Then its everyone in the workshop for a health and safety induction before we get stuck in to the session. Once we have completed the demonstrations there is plenty of time for you to experiment with the different techniques and processes on copper and brass before you decide on your final design and we help you to create it in sterling silver.
Make sure you wear some closed toe shoes, as we will be working in a workshop environment, bring glasses for close work if you need them. We keep the class sizes small so you get the most out of your session with us. This does mean that places are limited however so book early to make sure that you secure your place on the course.
So what are you waiting for? Book your session now!

At Oresome there is an understanding that jewellery is not just an accessory, it surprises us, creates experiences and inspires, it represents us for who we are. Introducing Nicola Fidell Chapman.
Tell us about a your typical day?
I get up about 730am and sort the animals out. If I am lucky I get a cup of decaf earl grey tea from my Husband. Get ready for , work check my emails and instagram account. Grab my lunch and head out the door. No two days are the same at Oresome, some days we have appointments with clients to discuss commissions and re models and other days I head straight into the workshop to create some of my own one off pieces. I usually work from designs in my sketchbook. For me using a sketch book is such an important part of my design process. Its where I capture my inspiration for new ideas.
The working day usually ends about 5.30-6pm when we pack up and head home??
How did you become a jeweller?
I have always been fascinated by the function of objects and remember my Dad taking me into antique shops as a young child. I used to take my toys apart and also raid my mum’s jewellery box with the hope of discovering how things had been made. This developed at school and the only classes I really enjoyed were the Art and 3D design classes. I went on to study for a BA (Hons) at Sheffield and graduated in 1986. The journey into the jewellery industry started after that and I have been doing it for almost 30 years and am still as passionate about making.
What’s you passion outside of jewellery?
I love fashion especially shoes and handbags. Next time round I would love to be a shoe designer. I am mad about my animals and have a collection of feral cats waifs and strays and an ever evolving family of foxes.
Have you made anything for anyone famous?
We made a chain of office for Peter Madelson and also gave a necklace to Emma Thompson. Sold a piece of jewellery to Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw.
Where is your favourite place to visit on Holiday?
I like to travel to different places and don’t really have a favourite. I love Whitby and Robin Hoods bay if I am going somewhere local. Last summer I went to visit Marseille They have a fantastic artists quarter in Le Panier where you can see the artist at work. Making everything from knives to jewellery.

There is nothing more precious than being left or given a piece of jewellery by a loved one. Sometimes it can be difficult to know what to do with a sentimental piece of jewellery, keep it locked away in your jewellery box or give it a new lease of life and have it re modelled.
At Oresome Nicola and I have been designing and creating bespoke jewellery for over 35 years between us. We regularly get customers asking us to transform old pieces of jewellery into new.
Jewellery has great sentiment and memories intertwined into its past, present and future. Whether it’s a gift from a loved one or a family heirloom that has been passed down from generation to generation.
It’s always such an honour to work on a re modelled piece and to see through the transformation of the jewellery from old to new.
We give the jewellery a new lease of life while keeping this sentiment within the item and incorporating your own unique sense of style. We carefully hand draw design ideas that incorporate all the elements of the original item. Don’t worry you don’t have to have a design in mind, We work closely with you to create your dream piece producing design ideas baised on your requirements.
Whether is a gift from your loved one or transforming an old piece of jewellery into a new one. Carry your loved ones and their memories into the future with a beautifully remodelled piece at Oresome. Want to know more? Get in touch Via our online form.

Designed and created by Oresome Jeweller and Business Partner Nicola Fidell Chapman, The Tweetie Sweetie Birdie collection is inspired by the farm yard and our clucking friends.
“I have always loved animals, I think that this only grew stronger when as a child our family would often spend our holidays in and around the farm yard. I was always fascinated by the quirky character and movement of chickens, they never failed to amuse me always creating a smile. This was the inspiration for The Tweetie Sweetie Birdie Collection.”
Nicola Fidell Chapman – Jewellery Designer / Maker and Business Partner
This collection is great fun and a fabulous addition to your spring summer look. The range starts from as little as £85.00 for the Chicken pendant with plenty of items to compliment it. Such as this chicken pin, which is perfect on that summer jacket or that brightly coloured summer knitwear.
Each piece of the collection is carefully hand crafted on site at Oresome Jewellery by us. We carefully design and create each piece by hand. We believe that your jewellery should be as individual as you are.
Make a statement this season, ruffle your feathers and stand out from the crowd with these quirky birds.
