Like any artist or designer, Nicola and I follow the same process when we are creating new works of wearable art. The first port of call is to have a brief and define the project, then comes the visual and contextual research to get those creative juices flowing.
After what has happened over the last year, we both felt that our new bespoke pieces should be a more playful and fun. Hence, we decided on the fun fair as our source of inspiration for our new work. The shapes, colours and bright lights of the fair set our imaginations racing.
We first sourced visually exciting images, I was particularly interested in the movement and the shapes that this created. Next came the initial sketches and sample pieces. Making sure that our ideas are both aesthetically pleasing and practical to wear whilst retaining that element of fun and playfulness.
We also carefully consider and select high quality materials, whether that is silver or gold and the different stones we would use to reflect our inspiration.
Then refining our ideas and seeing which items would make the final cut, sometimes it is difficult to select the pieces that we actually create for our ranges.
Now we are in the midst of creating our final pieces ready to be send-off to be hallmarked and photographed in preparation for our big launch date in July.
All the items in this collection are complete one offs we will never create them again, if you would like to be on our list of VIP’s who get an opportunity to view and buy our pieces 24 hours before our public release date sign up for our VIP Mailing list here.
